SALT LAKE CITY—May 8, 2012 — When many Americans hear the word “free” they often assume there’s a catch hidden somewhere. According to Xi3 Corporation, the biggest gotcha faced by computer owners today is the high costs many pay each month for the electricity to run their power-hungry computers.
Using public data provided by the United States Department of Energy1, Xi3 Corporation today announced that many end-users—businesses, schools, government agencies, non-profits and consumers—are paying far too much each month to run their computers.
In fact, Xi3 claims that by switching from their existing desktop computers to ecofriendly Xi3® Modular™ Computer solutions, many end-users could actually save enough money each month to cover the cost of acquiring new computers. In other words, many customers can essentially get free computers by moving to Xi32.
Computer owners in Hawaii pay more than 30 cents per Kilowatt Hour. In many Northeastern and Mid-Atlantic states and in California, end-users pay up to $0.15 or even higher per KwH, rates that can equal more than $260 per year just for the electricity to run one 200 Watt desktop computer itself. In comparison, the full-power, dual-core processor-based energy-friendly Xi3 Modular Computer needs only 20 Watts of electricity to operate at a cost of $26 per year.
The electricity savings produced by moving to an Xi3 Modular Computer from a traditional desktop PC can be enough to cover the monthly costs of leasing an Xi3 Modular Computer solution. And when customers also use Xi3’s TAND3M™ software package so two people can simultaneously share one Xi3 Modular Computer, the difference can be great enough to also put extra money in the customer’s pocket each month—on top of getting a new computer.
Xi3 Announces its EcoLeaseSM Program and its Agreement with VAR Resources
Xi3 also announced today it has entered into an agreement with VAR Resources, one of the leading independent providers in the U.S. of leasing solutions for technology manufacturers and their distribution channel partners. In connection with its relationship with Dallas, Texas-based VAR Resources, Xi3 unveiled today its EcoLease Program, which allows qualifying end-users and organizations to lease Xi3 products, including TAND3M-enabled Xi3 Modular Computers, for terms of 36, 48 or 60 months*.
Xi3 has produced a free online EcoLease Calculator to allow end-users to determine the exact savings they can gain by leasing Xi3 Modular Computer solutions and removing their existing computers from operation. The Xi3 EcoLease Program is available immediately as an option Xi3’s channel partners can offer to their customers. Details about the Xi3 EcoLease Program are available at www.Xi3.com/EcoLease.php.
“Clearly end-users can purchase an Xi3 Modular Computer outright, lease it through our EcoLease Program, or use another leasing option,” said Aaron Rowsell, Chief Operating Officer for Xi3. “The point is there is always an ongoing Operational Expense to using desktop computers, and switching to an Xi3 Modular Computer solution will significantly lower that cost. Depending upon the number of computers in your organization and your electricity rate, you could be spending tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of dollars more than you need to spend—just because you’ve got computers that are energy hogs. That’s what we’re trying to change.”
